Civil War Date

Good Thursday morning!

I only have one Gallery Pic this morning... and it's a leftover from Monday night's Choir Concert. It's just a photo of one of Josh's many fans!

RANDOMNESS - I am Randomness-Free today. I am without Random. Usually, Random is all that flows through my head at any given time, day or night. Very, very odd. If anything pops into my head today (anything at all), I promise to re-post during the day.

Blog Linkage - I just have a couple of links to share with you today, but they are good ones.

1. Go to Nesting Place under My Blog List and scroll down to the post entitled "Process: Slow Decorating" dated May 11. This girl makes a lot of sense to me. I like her style, and her lovely "lived-in" home.

2. Go to Confessions of a Pioneer Woman under My Blog List and click on Photography at the top of her page. She has another contest underway, and this is a good one. It is entitled "Action." She's already posted two days worth of "Action" shots, and she'll have Days 3 and 4 today and tomorrows. I LOVE looking at these pictures.

Civil War Date

It has been documented on A Simple Life, so this will not surprise you. I have THREE history buffs in in the family. That's right! Three Plaque Readers! And while this is a HUGE source of irritation for Roxie and me whenever we travel, Mikie, Austin and Josh do enjoy a good plaque from time to time.

If you have a history buff tween or teen in your family, this may be the date for you.

Tannehill Civil War Reenactment - Tannehill and the Alabama State Militia Artillery will host the 12th annual Civil War Battle and Living History Reenactment May 28 and May 29. There will be more than 500 reenactors present. Camps open at 9:00 a.m. with the battle beginning at 2:00 p.m.

You and your date can shop for unique Civil War collectibles, jewelry, clothing, uniforms and more in the traveling merchandise tents.

Try some of Doc Bell's Wizard Elixir. (Hey! Be sure and check the ingredients of this Elixir before you give it to your kid. I'm assuming it's family-friendly, but do NOT take a chance!)

Step into Colonel Jon's Kitchen for some delicious Indian fry bread.

See swordsmanship, marching and firing demonstrations.

Hear live Civil War music from the 5th Alabama Regimental Band.

Admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors (62 and older) and $2.00 for children (ages 6 to 11).

NOTE - As I mentioned above, the camps open at 9:00 a.m. and the battle begins at 2:00 p.m. The event is over at 3:00 p.m.
