Good Friday morning!
As I told you earlier in the week, every Friday in October, I will be posting pictures I am taking in an "October Photography Challenge." Today I have posted October 1 through October 6. I like these little photo challenges because it gives you new ideas... and the older I get, the more new ideas I need!
REMINDER - Although there will be no new posts on A Simple Life over the weekend, I will continue to post the Picture of the Day on Belinda's Project Life Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Don't forget to check it out!
ANNOUNCEMENT - Next Monday, October 11, I will be making an announcement regarding some changes which will be implemented on A Simple Life. The new changes will begin Monday, October 18... the week A Simple Life turns two years-old. You don't want to be out of the loop, so visit Monday to get the scoop. (I didn't mean to make a rhyme. Really.)
RANDOMNESS #1 - This time last year, October 8, 2009, I went through the drive-thru of Chick-Fil-A. There was a tiny pumpkin sitting on top of the drive-thru menu. I was very excited this morning when I went through the drive-thru. Because I assume everyone is like me, I just KNEW there would be a little pumpkin sitting on top of the menu... exactly one year from the day it last appeared. I was wrong. I was very disappointed. I have spoken to the manager. It should be taken care of in the next few hours.
I mean, when you buy a medium Diet Dr. Pepper five days a week, that qualifies you as a "valued customer." A VIP of sorts. They DO NOT want to lose my business. It would break them!
RANDOMNESS #2 - I found a lovely pumpkin yesterday. It was large, round and a deep orange color with splotches all over it. It was simply beautiful. I was drawn to this pumpkin, so I stopped the Big Gold Van and walked toward the display.
The pumpkin was marked $15.89! Can you believe that? Is that not an enormous amount of money to pay a vegetable... or a fruit... or whatever it is? I mean, really! What kind of nut would pay $15.89 for a pumpkin?
I found it difficult to stop sputtering with indignation as I carried it to my car.
Weekend Happenings
I can sum up this weekend with one word... FOOTBALL! Well, at least for some of the Faulkner Five.
Today is Homecoming in our little part of the world. Roxie has a new homecoming dress and party plans. Josh has a new homecoming outfit and is double-dating with friends. Football may actually be a little secondary to the social happenings associated with homecoming, but it will be fun!
Tomorrow, Mikie and Josh are heading to Kentucky for the Auburn game. Josh has a goal to visit every SEC stadium before he finishes college. Kentucky is either five or six on the list. (I can't keep up. I do know Mikie and Josh keep telling me Georgia Tech is NOT an SEC stadium whenever I bring it up... which is quite often because I enjoy seeing them shake their heads in disbelief and throwing up their hands. It makes me chuckle.)
Since Mikie and Josh are Kentucky-bound, Roxie and I will be mall-bound. A whole day with just me and the chick. Heavenly. As is our custom, we will eat lunch at Auntie Anne's Pretzels, pick out our FREE Godiva chocolate piece (we belong to the Godiva Club, you see) and hopefully find three fall outfits... two for Roxie and one for me! I'm thinking it's time for me to buy some really awesome new boots. It just feels right to me this year. I have the "must have" purse in the "must have" color. Now I just have to find the perfect boot to go with my personality and style... whatever that is!
Austin has yet another Exhibition on Saturday, and will be rolling into Gardendale Sunday morning for church, movies with Josh and the cousins and some time with the lovely Melia. Bless his heart. His Sundays are full, but fun. But this is what fall looks like when you are a Marching Southerner... and he continues to LOVE being a Southerner.
That's it. We'll be a little spread out, but I'm guessing all five of the Faulkner Five will be happy doing some of their favorite things.
I'm just hoping Auburn and JSU can both win their games... AGAIN! Both of our teams are undefeated. It's a lovely feeling to be undefeated!
Have a fantastic weekend. Enjoy the weather. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your friends. Enjoy the most wonderful month of the year... October! I'll be back Monday with "The Big Announcement," parties, recipes, traditions and dates. Oh, and pictures. Tons and tons of homecoming pictures!
Take care, and I'll talk to you Monday.
Sincerely,
The Enchanting Belinda
P.S. For those of you who don't know me well, I DID NOT purchase a $15.89 pumpkin. That was a joke. However, I am watching and waiting. Maybe it will go on sale toward the end of the month! One can only hope!
If you are new to A Simple Life, here's a little tip. There will ALWAYS be many, many pics at the end of each post. New pictures are added every day (Monday through Friday). If you want to get to the "picture" part of the blog, you have to keep scrolling down, down, down... but you will eventually find it! Thanks for visiting!

Friday...
Finally, some new basketball action shots.
The JV team had two 40-minute games Friday, so I thought I would just go ahead and start filming now!
And here's the obligatory Bryant Tuggle pic. He's a HUGE supporter of our baskeball team. Always has been... always will be. Well, until he gets his own driver's license!
Saturday...
We spent the day with the cousins Saturday. Monica, Amy, Roxie and I shopped at Brookwood, ate at Yolo's and went to the movies (Pirates 4). It was a great day, but the best part was our celebrity sighting...
That's right! Will Ferrell! (Please feel free to use your imagination. I know we did!)
Sunday...
Mikie's 50th Family Birthday Celebration! Everyone knows 50 year-old men LOVE the Green Lantern...and their wives really like Ryan Reynolds! (How cool would it be to have your picture on a birthday party plate package? Another goal, perhaps?)
What do you give a 50 year-old guys for his birthday? Cards... filled with money, Ricky Skaggs' concert tickets, a True Grit DVD and a Red Devil's Food Cake with Divinity Icing (from his Mom). It was a very good day!
Lovely Melia gave him the True Grit DVD. (I LOVE that movie!)
And it wouldn't be a birthday without a hug from Roxie!
