Good Thursday morning!
The Gallery Pics are of some signage at the Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor/Drug Store Roxie and I visited Monday. It's also today's date idea, so I'll be talking about it a little more below.
REMINDER - Tomorrow I'll be sharing more photos I've taken for the "October Photography Challenge" this past week. It's been fun, but I'm beginning to wonder how many more "October" pictures this gal can come up with the next ten days!
ANOTHER REMINDER - I'm still posting a picture EACH AND EVERY DAY on Belinda's Project Life. You can click on this separate blog under My Blog List.
RANDOMNESS #1 - It's a muffin-makin' kind of week. Watch out! A muffin or two may be coming your way today or tomorrow!
RANDOMNESS #2 - I survived the second class of Zumba. To be honest, I did much, much better after this class. I thought we would be doing the same dance steps over and over and over again until I could learn them. I am a creature of habit and repetition... big time! However, Zumba is obviously an African word meaning "mix it up a little, and keep the girls confused." If that is the case, I am the poster child for the word "Zumba."
Totally throwing out any and all African-sounding music threw me off for a while, too. And when the traditional Greek dance started... Well, my mind was unable to comprehend. (But to be honest, I must have a little Greek in my blood, because before the dance hit warp speed, I was AWESOME!)
I am continually learning new things about my body. I had no idea I was physically incapable of performing a simple dance step AND clapping my hands over my head at the same time. I guess it has never come up before. (I can't rub my belly and pat my head at the same time either... or roll my tongue. It's disturbing, I know.)
The little sarong continues to be my favorite part of the class, but I was upset when I couldn't find MY orange sarong. I had to settle for yellow. (I'm getting there early tonight. I would have performed SO much better if I had been wearing my orange sarong. I just know it.)
Blog Linkage - I have a little light reading for you today if you are so inclined.
1. Go to Big Mama under My Blog List. Go to the bottom of today's post. It reads "Previous Entries." Click on "Previous Entries" until you come to a post entitled "It's only a matter of time before she starts reading the Thrifty Nickel," dated October 19. It's a very accurate depiction of Yard Sale Fever.
2. For a new cookie recipe, check out Nitty.Gritty. under My Blog List. Scroll down to the post entitled "For those of you who have been checking in on us," dated October 12. Click on "Vanilla Sugar blog" for the recipe. It looks delicious!
3. For yet another recipe, go to Confessions of a Pioneer Woman and click on "Tasty Kitchen" at the top of her page. Scroll down until you see "Oven Ham Sammies." Click on the title for the recipe. I've had these before, and they are absolutely wonderful!
4. Always, always check Birmingham Bargain Mom's website. I always Google "Birmingham Bargain Mom," click on her website and hit "Entertainment" under her left sidebar. She never fails to have good ideas for fun activities for the upcoming weekend.
Enjoy your linkage!
Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Date
If you are within driving distance of Hanceville, Alabama, make a date to visit Hanceville Drug Company. When you walk in, you will immediately notice the Soda Fountain, the bright red stools and booths and the simple menu. Ice cream and ice cream products.
Whether you enjoy banana splits, Coke floats or the simple vanilla ice cream cone, they can deliver.
The only thing missing was a jukebox, but that's okay. You are there to eat ice cream. Oh, and since it takes a little while to get there, enjoy the drive on a beautiful fall day. Talk, talk, talk with your date... or listen, listen, listen depending on the child.
The address is 101 Commercial Street, Southeast, Hanceville, Alabama. For directions call 256-352-4110.
Have fun on this inexpensive and SIMPLE little outing!
Have a terrific Thursday. Even if it is the busiest day of your week, take a moment or two to stand outside and enjoy the colors. It's absolutely "golden." Friday I'll be sharing Weekend Happenings, more photos from the October Photography Challenge and a little Randomness. It will be a short, easy read.
Take care, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Sincerely,
The Enchanting Belinda
If you are new to A Simple Life, here's a little tip. There will ALWAYS be many, many pics at the end of each post. New pictures are added every day (Monday through Friday). If you want to get to the "picture" part of the blog, you have to keep scrolling down, down, down... but you will eventually find it! Thanks for visiting!

Friday...
Finally, some new basketball action shots.
The JV team had two 40-minute games Friday, so I thought I would just go ahead and start filming now!
And here's the obligatory Bryant Tuggle pic. He's a HUGE supporter of our baskeball team. Always has been... always will be. Well, until he gets his own driver's license!
Saturday...
We spent the day with the cousins Saturday. Monica, Amy, Roxie and I shopped at Brookwood, ate at Yolo's and went to the movies (Pirates 4). It was a great day, but the best part was our celebrity sighting...
That's right! Will Ferrell! (Please feel free to use your imagination. I know we did!)
Sunday...
Mikie's 50th Family Birthday Celebration! Everyone knows 50 year-old men LOVE the Green Lantern...and their wives really like Ryan Reynolds! (How cool would it be to have your picture on a birthday party plate package? Another goal, perhaps?)
What do you give a 50 year-old guys for his birthday? Cards... filled with money, Ricky Skaggs' concert tickets, a True Grit DVD and a Red Devil's Food Cake with Divinity Icing (from his Mom). It was a very good day!
Lovely Melia gave him the True Grit DVD. (I LOVE that movie!)
And it wouldn't be a birthday without a hug from Roxie!
