Weekend Happenings

Good Friday afternoon!

Black Friday was a huge success. I'll be posting more next Wednesday under Seasonal Traditions. If you enjoy shopping and there are women in your family, this is the tradition for you. I'll talk to you about the pros, cons and other fun things we experienced last night and early, early this morning, so check in next Wednesday, please.

The Gallery Pics are of Thanksgiving #2 at Mike's Mom and Dad's home and some Black Friday pictures. It has been a long day already (it began at 3:30 this morning and it is almost 1:00 p.m. as I type this post), so I will be keeping it brief today.

Weekend Happenings

I'm assuming we're doing the exact same thing everyone else is this Friday afternoon... taking a nap! Well, I'm taking a nap with Roxie and the guys are watching the Alabama/Auburn game. Of course, we're an Auburn family, so we have high hopes. Anything can happen, but we'll know for sure in just a few short hours, won't we?

Saturday is a "get the Christmas tree at the Christmas tree farm" kind of day. That's all I have planned. I'll begin decorating and we'll just hang out around the house. I need an easy day after such a busy Thursday and Friday.

Sunday will be more of the same. Church, Faulkner Five lunch, decorating, Amazing Race, etc., etc. And a lot of kicking and screaming as we go to bed Sunday night because we have school the next day. (Mostly from me!)

If everyone will forgive me, I'm going to leave the post for right now. I have several books I'll add this afternoon, but I'm about to fall asleep on the keyboard. I just wanted to be a blogger of my word and post by 2:00 p.m. The days when I could go, go, go on just five hour's sleep are over. (Actually, I've never been one who could go, go, go on just five hour's sleep. I've always been an 8 to 10 hours sleep kind of girl.)

SATURDAY EVENING - I lied. I am still too tired to add all the books I had planned, so I'll leave you with two very good ones from my list.

1. Magic Tree House - Thanksgiving on Thursday by Mary Pope Osborne. My kids loved the Magic Tree House books back in the day. They were fun, educational, and fairly easy to read... either alone or as a read-aloud chapter book to several kids at once. This would be a great book to read a few days prior to Thanksgiving.

2. Winnie the Pooh's Thanksgiving by Bruce Talkington. Two of my favorite things... Pooh and Thanksgiving. You can't go wrong here for reading material for your younger children.

I've kept my word (sort of), and now I am going to take yet another little nap. Black Friday takes a lot out of you!
