Good Friday morning!
The Gallery Pic is simply my pineapple. Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to get into a piece of tropical fruit... pineapples, coconuts, pomegranates, etc. It's almost as if they were made to "fight back" a little.
Since I'm a Travel Channel AND Food Channel fan, I've seen my share of Hawaiian field workers pick and slice a pineapple. They usually use a four foot machete. On the show Survivor, the teams are also given a machete to hack into coconuts. As I was slicing and hacking with my puny, dull kitchen knife, I couldn't help but think about owning a machete.
Did I know anyone who owned a machete?
Are machetes expensive?
Where in the kitchen area do you store a machete?
If I did own a machete, would I still desire or NEED a taser?
I'm getting on e-bay later today. Do NOT be surprised if my Project 365 pic is of a nice, shiny, incredibly sharp machete in the next couple of days. Do NOT be surprised at all!
RANDOMNESS - After the blood pressure fiasco which will now forever be known as The Great Blood Pressure Fiasco of 2010, I have to admit I didn't have high expectations for yesterday. I was just going to try to survive the day. That was my goal.
So imagine my very negative thought process when I decided to treat myself to a McDonald's Caramel Frappe' and found out the machine that takes my debit card was broken... and I didn't have any cash... and they were holding my Caramel Frappe' inches away from my hand when they told me... and I had to decide then and there if I was going to snatch and run... and, of course, hit the altar bright and early Sunday morning.
Okay. So you've got a visual in your head now, right? I will be honest and say if I was a driver of one of the 1,000,000 white vans in our fair city, I might have tried it. However, being the one and only owner of The Big Gold Van makes it hard to do "bad" things while driving said Big Gold Van.
I must have looked disappointed, but I sweetly said, "That's okay. I'll come back another time." And I smiled. Weakly. But I still smiled.
"Oh, no you will not," a voice in the window said. I looked up to see the manager had walked over, taken MY Caramel Frappe' from the girl working the window and handed it to me.
"But the machine isn't taking debit cards, and I don't have any cash," I explained to her.
"Sugar, this one is on me," she said, while punching buttons on the cash register. "You just have a great day." And she flashed a beautiful, white, toothy smile at me.
"Are you sure?" I asked, smiling back and holding my icy, fresh Caramel Frappe'.
"Ma'am. You're holding up the line," she said, still smiling... and she waved me on.
I love her. She is my new best friend. And I love living in the South where at some point in your life someone is going to call you "Sugar," and it's going to sound just as normal and sweet and Southern as can be.
And while yesterday wasn't without it's difficulties and hurdles, my new, best friend called me "Sugar" and gave me a free Caramel Frappe'... just because. I plan on returning the favor today. If not directly to her, then to someone else who might need a kind word or a cool drink.
I feel it's the very least I can do!
Weekend Happenings
Tonight is a bowling night. Hopefully, I can improve on my personal best of 140... I am aiming for 141. (I try to set some goals which are obtainable... and honestly, that may not be one of them!)
Roxie is heading to cousin Monica's for a fun-filled weekend. In fact, it seems as if it will be a weekend filled with cousins. Josh is hoping for some cousin time tonight and/or tomorrow. Bev and I are getting the kids' pictures made Sunday after church for a SURPRISE birthday present for my Mom (so if you see her, don't say anything). We'll forget her last words to me... "If I don't get a new picture of the kids for my birthday, I'm going to be upset." So, as you can see, I don't want the "surprise" to be ruined!
Austin is working at the Chick AND spending time with the lovely Melia this weekend. (And, of course, he'll be posing for the picture on Sunday, too.)
Mikie and Josh are going to spend some time together Saturday evening, and I'm hoping (hope, hope, hope), Mikie and I can see Toy Story 3 this weekend. We'll be the only two adults in the entire theater WITHOUT kids thoroughly enjoying this wonderful Disney/Pixar creation. I can't wait.
Have a fantastic weekend. Make sure you have plans written in INK on the calendar. There is a 67% chance you will actually follow through with plans written in INK on the calendar. Well, not really. I just made that number up in my head. But I've got to believe there's a better chance of doing something you've prioritized enough to actually write on your calendar. I have to!
I'll be back Monday to share 743 new summer ideas to try. Well, not really. I just made that number up in my head, too. But I've got to believe there's a better chance of sharing at least five new ideas with you next week if my original goal was 743. I have to!
Take care, and I'll talk to you Monday.
Sincerely,
The Enchanting and Always Hopeful Belinda
If you are new to A Simple Life, here's a little tip. There will ALWAYS be many, many pics at the end of each post. New pictures are added every day (Monday through Friday). If you want to get to the "picture" part of the blog, you have to keep scrolling down, down, down... but you will eventually find it! Thanks for visiting!

Friday...
Finally, some new basketball action shots.
The JV team had two 40-minute games Friday, so I thought I would just go ahead and start filming now!
And here's the obligatory Bryant Tuggle pic. He's a HUGE supporter of our baskeball team. Always has been... always will be. Well, until he gets his own driver's license!
Saturday...
We spent the day with the cousins Saturday. Monica, Amy, Roxie and I shopped at Brookwood, ate at Yolo's and went to the movies (Pirates 4). It was a great day, but the best part was our celebrity sighting...
That's right! Will Ferrell! (Please feel free to use your imagination. I know we did!)
Sunday...
Mikie's 50th Family Birthday Celebration! Everyone knows 50 year-old men LOVE the Green Lantern...and their wives really like Ryan Reynolds! (How cool would it be to have your picture on a birthday party plate package? Another goal, perhaps?)
What do you give a 50 year-old guys for his birthday? Cards... filled with money, Ricky Skaggs' concert tickets, a True Grit DVD and a Red Devil's Food Cake with Divinity Icing (from his Mom). It was a very good day!
Lovely Melia gave him the True Grit DVD. (I LOVE that movie!)
And it wouldn't be a birthday without a hug from Roxie!
