ArtWalk 2010 Date

Good Thursday morning!

The Gallery Pics are from the volleyball game last night. SHOCK! But I'm showing you these photos because I'm finally learning how to use Photoshop. The pictures may be a little repetitive, but hopefully the quality will be improving in the next few weeks as I become more proficient (GOOD WORD) with my new Photoshop skills!

13. Name three things you have never done.

I've never been on an airplane, snow skied or made a homemade pastry. (I've been on an airplane, and I've snow skied... and I survived both. But I haven't made a homemade pastry. Maybe this is something we could try to do together!)

14. What is one thing you couldn't live without?

My husband... and I guess oxygen. (Very good answers!)

15. What cartoon character would you most like to be? Why?

Scooby Doo. He experiences adventure!

16. What is the hardest/best thing about being your age?

Best... I finally understand the logic my mother used when I was younger. Hardest... Going to Six Flags actually hurts my body.

7. Describe your all-time best day ever.

Any Sunday dinner when my uncles were still living.

18. What would be the worst job/profession to have?

Preschool/elementary school teacher or daycare worker. (I'm thinking she must like older kids.)

19. What is the best book you've read recently, and why did you like it?

What In the World Is Going On? It explained and compared current events to the last days shown in the Bible. (Julie is so much deeper than I am. I'm waiting on my October Family Fun magazine to show up in my mailbox. That will be my reading for the month!)

20. What do you think you will be doing in ten years?

Getting ready for my oldest to get married.

21. Who is your hero and why?

My mother... because she always tries to do what is right.

22. What is the best (and the worst) things you have ever eaten?

The best is ice cream. The worst is a casserole with cat hair. (No argument there!)

23. What do you like best to do with your family? Why?

Anything on the water. We all like water sports.

24. What makes you furious?

Disrespect.

25. What instantly puts a smile on your face?

Adam Sandler. (I thought she might say The Enchanting Belinda, but Adam Sandler is pretty funny, too.)

26. How many siblings do you have, and where do you fall in the mix?

I'm an only child.

27. Dog lover or cat lover?

DOG! (This is so true. Her pup, Patch, is usually attached to her hip. He's a sweet pup.)

28. If you could remove someone's burden and take it as your own, whose burden would it be?

I would say the burden of the choices my kids will be faced with while growing up.

29. Where is your "happy place?"

My room.

30. Who are you most like... your mother or your father?

It's pretty equal... 50-50.

There is a great list of events being held in our area. You can pick and choose so many things to do with your child from this list. I'll be going back... again and again!

ArtWalk 2010 Date

I found the following information on the new website I listed above. If you have an artistic kiddo, this sounds like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

On September 10 and 11, Birmingham businesses and lofts (located in the 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue North area) will open their doors to over 100 talented artists and 10,000 guests for ArtWalk 2010. You may consider this an adult event. Fine art, offices, chic lofts plus kids is not a typical combination. However, Birmingham’s ArtWalk is the perfect way for you to enjoy an evening or afternoon downtown while providing a great opportunity to expose your child to art, artists and kid-friendly art activities. Here’s your guide to ArtWalk 2010.

Dates and Times - Friday, September 10 (5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.) and Saturday, September 11 (noon to 5:00 p.m.).

On Friday evening, you can enjoy music, artists and cooler temperatures as you walk through exhibits.

On Saturday, don’t miss the ARTWALK KIDZONE which is entitled “Retake and Remake Recyclable Art.” At the KidZone, located in the parking lot behind Space 111 (2409 2nd Avenue North), children will explore what they can do with everyday recyclable materials (egg carton creatures, cardboard instruments, beach in a jar, life-size figure collages and professional face painting, etc.). It’s a place to free your imagination and see things in a whole new way.

It sounds like a fun and unique way to spend a few hours with one of your children. I think that translates to TIME WELL SPENT!
