Weekend Happenings

Good Friday morning!

RANDOMNESS - I watched Julie and Julia again last night... the second time since I received it as a birthday gift TEN DAYS AGO! I love that movie. At first, I thought I loved the movie because one of the main characters is a blogger. And I totally relate to how exciting it is to receive a comment on your blog. Oh, and I remember the high-pitched squealing that took place when I read that first comment.

In fact, I have it embroidered on a pillow. "Congratulations on starting your blog. I haven't been doing it really long either, but I really enjoy reading other blogs. My niece told me that made me a 'blog stalker.' :-D Anyway, I'm glad to read that you are a Christian. Again, you go, girl, blog on!" Thrilling, I tell you! Thrilling! But that isn't the reason I love this movie.

Then I thought I loved the movie because of Amy Adams and her tinkly voice. I love her tinkly voice... and her big eyes... and her red hair. Lovely, lovely actress. But, no. That wasn't it either.

Butter! I loved the movie because one of the central themes was cooking and using tons and tons of BUTTER! Nope. Not the reason.

I love the movie because it tells the real-life love story of an unlikely pair... Julia Childs and her husband. Well, an unlikely pair to the untrained eye, perhaps... but most definitely two people who loved each other from the inside out.

And when you truly love what's on the inside of another person, isn't it amazing how beautiful the outside becomes? And age doesn't make the person less beautiful... And illness doesn't make the person less beautiful... And gravity doesn't make the person less beautiful.

Did I mention... I love this movie!

REMINDER #1 - I will be posting pics on Belinda's Project Life all weekend long, and since we will not be playing volleyball, there may be some new and exciting things to share! You never know!

REMINDER #2 - Don't forget "Spread the Love September." Make sure you encourage, compliment or "love on" someone today, Saturday and Sunday. If you forget one day, don't beat yourself up. Just make sure you reach out to someone the next day! (No one is going to be checking to see if you do it or not. Well, except for me, but I won't tell anyone!)

SEPTEMBER SPECIAL GUEST - JULIE TUGGLE - PART THREE - Sadness. This is Julie's last day with us on A Simple Life. I, for one, will miss her. (But I get to see her Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of next week, so it's all good.) Read on!

Thanksgiving. Fall is my favorite time of year. (You may or may not know this, but MINE, TOO!)

32. What is one food you cannot force yourself to eat?

Raw oysters. (That's a good one, and I totally agree.)

33. Are you a "glass half-full" person or a "glass half-empty" person?

Depends on what day of the month it is. Generally, I am half-full.

34. If you were an animal, which animal would you be?

A bird.

35. What is your favorite book of the Bible, and why?

James. It is the basics for how to live the Christian life.

36. What is your favorite type of music (country, classical, rap)?

Dance.

37. Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Neither.

38. What is your favorite cereal?

Rice Krispies.

39. Which person from the Bible do you want to meet first when you get to Heaven (not counting Jesus)?

Michael, the archangel. (I forgot to ask "why." I'll have to ask her next week when I see her and report back to you!)

Seriously?

41. What is your current obsession?

Ice cream. (Now, that's a good obsession! I can hop on board with that one.)

Thank you for putting yourself out there, Julie! I learned a few things I didn't know. I feel we are closer because of this experience! If you see Julie out and about, feel free to walk up and start a conversation with her. She's a wonderful person to get to know better!

Weekend Happenings

This is not a "scattered" weekend. This weekend is very, very structured and scheduled. We have to be at certain places at certain times, and the Faulkner Five get to do this TOGETHER! YEA!

We're going to the first JSU game Saturday to watch Austin perform with the Marching Southerners. We will be heading to Mississippi. I do not know if we are going to Mississippi State or Ol' Miss. This is a sore spot with Mikie because he feels I should know this, but inevitably I always say the wrong school. (I do the same thing with the two schools in Florida and the two schools in Georgia. Why can't everyone be like Alabama and have two different names... Alabama AND Auburn? I never get those two mixed up. NEVER!)

Sunday, we will be attending church. Austin will be coming in that afternoon because it is an overnight game. He'll grab his stuff (Code for LAUNDRY) when the buses pull into the JSU parking lot and head home, because...

We are going to spend the day at the lake with Mikie's family Monday. (Or is it the river? That drives Mikie crazy, too. Let's just say we're going to a large body of water, shall we?)

It will be a busy weekend, but fun. And just think. I will not be taking ONE volleyball pic the entire time. Now, there will be football and band and tubing... but no volleyball. I hope you'll enjoy the break.

Have the most wonderful three-day weekend! I'll post bright and early Monday morning before we begin our Labor Day festivities. I don't have a particular theme for next week... but I expect there will be some new and/or improved AUTUMNAL ideas scattered throughout.
