Good Friday morning!

The Gallery Pics are just a few shots I took this morning on my way home from walking. Nothing special. Things I see every day. Just a smattering of my thought process, strange as it may be.

TOPIC OF THE WEEK - Answered Prayer

I think this Topic is going to spill over into next week, too. I'm going to share the first part of Jeff and Sara Phillips' story today. I'll finish Monday, and I'll post their website so you'll be able to pray for them and follow them on the amazing journey God has set before them. (HINT - Beginning in March, you're going to be learning a great deal about Vancouver, Canada if you follow their blog. I've never been to Vancouver, so I'm going to live vicariously through their family in the months to come.) Here is Part One of their story...

In 2005, we began this journey with a fight against the call to church planting. I argued with God telling Him I was not the right fit for a church planter. I actually told God, "No, I'm not the church-planting type." I then continued my ministry career in student ministry.

The past two years have held new insights for us. We believe God was calling us to a different ministry. Our constant prayer was "walking through doors as He opens them," and God had not opened the door He had waiting for us. We waited and prayed.

In September, I received a phone call from my pastor while driving around Stanley Park in Vancouver. He asked me how things were going and what I saw God doing in our lives next. I said I didn't know, but I knew that He was defining our call by telling us "no" to various positions in the church.

Then he said, "Jeff, maybe God is going to keep saying no to you until you finally say 'Yes' to that thing you have been saying no to for years." That thing was church planting.

I'll share the rest of Jeff and Sara's story Monday, as well as their website. It's the perfect example of prayers being answered... although not with the answer you were expecting.

Weekend Happenings

I'm getting very good at non-planning every minute of our weekends. After supporting (by our presence) the JSU band, Jr. Varsity Football, Varsity Football, Middle School Volleyball and Middle School Basketball from August 7 until it all ended January 30, we are enjoying this new "Non-Planning Mom" very, very much.

Tonight, we should all be together again around the dinner table... unless something "teenager-ish" comes up, and then I'll be flexible.

Tomorrow morning, Mikie and I are heading to The Original Pancake House for brunch... we decided to sleep late, and then we'll head home to work on a couple of household projects. Roxie and I may be going to an afternoon movie. My friend, Joan, suggested a new game a few days ago, and I'll be on my way to Wal-Mart to pick it up in a little while. The "non-plan" is to try the new game tomorrow evening IF everything works out.

Sunday is church and then prep work for Austin and Josh's Super Bowl get-together. After Bible Study, we'll have a few guys over to eat and watch the commercials. I have all of my football decorations purchased, and now all I have to do is nail down the menu. The only dish which is non-negotiable year after year after year is the "pigs-in-a-blanket" platter. (And I'm pretty sure I'll do a platter of taco cups, too.)

As always, Roxie and I will hide in my bedroom watching a movie, only coming out during commercial breaks to refill platters. That's our job. The pay is lousy, but someone has to do it!

Have a terrific weekend. James Spann has told us we could/should see some sun Sunday here in the south, but as always, we will wait and see. I'm back on schedule, so pictures will be posted Saturday and Sunday on Project 365. Next week is all about LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I have a great many things to share each and every day... all copied, course. But check anyway. I always copy from the very best people.
