Good Friday morning!
The Gallery pics are from the Volleyball Banquet last night. It was a lot of fun and Roxie had a wonderful time. I've also added the picture of my traditional Thanksgiving flag. I will be changing it November 15 to use the one my friend, Lana, gave me. I LOVE having choices.
NOTE TO LEANNA - I left a message for you and your Dad under my Comment Section yesterday. Check it out, please.
DON'T FORGET - All Newbies go directly to the sidebar and click on Newbie Information. Do not read any further until you have done this... and I will find out if you read ahead!
Also, I'll be adding pictures Friday, Saturday and Sunday to Belinda's Project 365. It's unbelievable, but I'm on 72 and I haven't skipped a day yet. Of course, I still have a few days to go before I hit the big 365, but so far, so good.
Second Tongue... The Saga Continues - Yes, I still have my second tongue. I'll give a quick recap of what happened to new readers.
I went to the doctor to have a dark, oblong spot removed under my tongue. It was 2 cm long (I think that's right). If it had been a perfect circle, it would have been the size of a pencil eraser... the kind that comes with the pencil... not the kind you put on the pencil.
My doctor said it was probably nothing. They put me to sleep, removed the spot and gave me a stitch. A few days later I received a report saying it was indeed nothing.
Two weeks later, everything was pink and looked like the rest of the area under the tongue. The End.. for a NORMAL person!
Four weeks after the "surgery," I noticed a blister-like area where the surgery had taken place. It grew larger and larger and larger still. I called it my second tongue. I called the doctor, told him what was going on and he said he would like to see me. That was fine with me. At this age, I don't like growing new and different things anywhere on my body. I'm pretty much resigned to just keeping up with the parts I already have.
After a quick exam, he decided it was a "mucus membrane" which was blocked. "Let's wait three months and see what happens."
Well, I'll tell you what happens when you wait three months. The thing starts developing taste buds!
So, I go in for our next consultation. "Hmmm. I can't believe it's still there," he murmured.
"Really? You really can't believe it didn't just go away? Something the size of a nickel and getting bigger every day? That surprises you?" These are sarcastic things I thought, but did not say.
"What do we need to do about it?" I actually did say.
"Well, I'm afraid if we remove it, another one will just grow back... whatever it is," he said thoughtfully.
Okay. For the record, you don't want your health care professional of choice to refer to the "thing" in your mouth as "whatever it is." Also for the record, I don't have room for Tongue Number Two, much less Tongue Number Three.
"If it isn't bothering you too much, why don't we just leave it and check it again in three months. We can decide then if we want to risk taking it out and perhaps growing one or two more of them... whatever they are."
"You're killing me, Doc!" Again, sarcastic thought not spoken aloud.
So how does a "glass half-empty" person handle the thought of not two, but possibly three tongues? Hmmm.
I guess on the positive side it will make a great Picture No. 365 for Belinda's Project 365. Or...
I've always wanted to write a book and have it published. Maybe being mentioned in a Medical Journal for having two or three tongues will satisfy that craving. Or...
This might be the only way I'll ever get on Oprah. Or...
Maybe it's time for a second opinion. I'll let you know!
Weekend Happenings
Friday night is going to be Faulkner Family Movie Night! Yea!!! I'm not sure which movie, but we're all going to be here, and I'm making chicken and rice soup with cornbread. I can't wait.
Mike, Austin and Josh are doing a little yard work and car washing Saturday, along with a little listening to the Auburn game on the radio. And while they are hard at work, Roxie and I are doing the Christmas Village "thing" with Bev, Katie and Grandmother... which technically means grazing at all the food booths we can find. (Free eggnog is on the second floor, folks!)
Saturday night will be spent hither and yon. I'll be packing and getting Mikie ready for a work trip to Chicago. He'll be leaving in the wee hours Sunday morning. Church, dinner, Amazing Race and everything in between will hopefully describe the rest of our day Sunday.
Did you notice anything different? Did you? Not one sporting event will we be attending? I can give my "bleacher bottom" a rest! Very, very exciting.
And that is it for the Faulkner Five. As always, it is completely and definitely subject to change. And change it usually does!
Have a wonderful weekend. I hope you get to spend a ton of time with family and friends enjoying many, many sweet moments. Next week will be filled with Thanksgiving ideas, fall ideas and (SHOCK) another easy soup recipe. Can you tell I'm in the mood for soup and chili and cornbread. 'Tis the season!
Take care, and I'll talk to you Monday.
Sincerely,
The Enchanting Belinda
If you are new to A Simple Life, here's a little tip. There will ALWAYS be many, many pics at the end of each post. New pictures are added every day (Monday through Friday). If you want to get to the "picture" part of the blog, you have to keep scrolling down, down, down... but you will eventually find it! Thanks for visiting!

Friday...
Finally, some new basketball action shots.
The JV team had two 40-minute games Friday, so I thought I would just go ahead and start filming now!
And here's the obligatory Bryant Tuggle pic. He's a HUGE supporter of our baskeball team. Always has been... always will be. Well, until he gets his own driver's license!
Saturday...
We spent the day with the cousins Saturday. Monica, Amy, Roxie and I shopped at Brookwood, ate at Yolo's and went to the movies (Pirates 4). It was a great day, but the best part was our celebrity sighting...
That's right! Will Ferrell! (Please feel free to use your imagination. I know we did!)
Sunday...
Mikie's 50th Family Birthday Celebration! Everyone knows 50 year-old men LOVE the Green Lantern...and their wives really like Ryan Reynolds! (How cool would it be to have your picture on a birthday party plate package? Another goal, perhaps?)
What do you give a 50 year-old guys for his birthday? Cards... filled with money, Ricky Skaggs' concert tickets, a True Grit DVD and a Red Devil's Food Cake with Divinity Icing (from his Mom). It was a very good day!
Lovely Melia gave him the True Grit DVD. (I LOVE that movie!)
And it wouldn't be a birthday without a hug from Roxie!
